In this class, you'll create a very special keepsake doll or figurative
sculpture, with emphasis on making it resemble someone you know.
The pictured doll is one that I made nearly 20 years ago to honor my
mother, AnaBel Peck. I still remember how much fun it was to show
her the doll. She recognized it as herself, and smiled and smiled.
During the class we'll concentrate on two aspects: sculpting the
faces in polymer clay and building the armature to reflect the body
attitude of your subject. The end result may be realistic or
whimsically caricatured, whichever style you choose.
In a three-day class, we should get the faces, hands, feet, armature,
hair and painting completed. The dressing will be completed at
home.
Skills learned:
Sculpting faces
Sculpting hands and feet of shoes
Armature proportions
Armature construction
Painting faces
Styling hair
During one of the evening work times, you'll also learn some basic
millefiori techniques for creating doll jewelry and accessories.
