Class Description:
Visual journaling is a creative way to express and record life's experiences, feelings, emotional reactions, and/or your inner world – using pictures, drawings, words and mementos of life events. Part one on Saturday will be an introduction to visual journaling. Optional second day on Sunday will give you an opportunity to bring your learnings from Saturday and apply to developing several personal pages. This option is also open to those who have taken this class before and want another day of inspiration! |

CLASS IN MARYLAND IN JULY Come take part in this special event which features instructors Carol Simmons, Ellen Marshall, Jeffrey Lloyd Dever, Lindly Haunani, Maureen Carlson, Robert Liu, Sandra McCaw Maureen will be teaching one of her favorite classes, her Story Box Class, in Maryland, July 26 and 27. Take advantage of this opportunity to explore your stories in depth through images in clay. Every box will be different, reflecting each person's story, but the general format will be choosing images, painting the box, sculpting components, assembling the parts, telling the story, celebrating the memories. |
Creative Sparks Ignite Your Imagination This energizing workshop will jumpstart your inspiration, get you thinking in new ways creatively and deepen your current art work. Each day we’ll create our art inspired by a different Creative Spark- Color, Texture, Words and Story, and Visual Imagery. Through a series of inspirational and fun, non-threatening exercises, we will explore how to find the kernel of an idea, how to grow the idea, what to do when challenges arise and what questions to ask to refine and deepen your ideas. The workshop will focus on polymer clay techniques and combining the clay effectively with other mixed media. You will play with a cornucopia of mixed media- polymer clay, papers, fabric, fibers, beads, wire. We’ll create jewelry, polymer clay books, three dimensional figures and wherever your imagination leads you. Our small group format will let us brainstorm together along with personal consultations/chats and will be a week of a rich creative stew. I like what Jasper Johns says: “Inspiration comes from doing. Do something, then do something to that and then do something to that.” That will be our motto for the week along with "hands, hearts and minds all working together". Leave class with fresh ideas, new ways of working and techniques to expand and develop your personal designs and art work. |
